Environmental Planning

The Central New Hampshire region is comprised of forested lands, small scale agriculture, village and urban commercial centers, an abundance of water bodies and hilly terrain.  The combination of these physical features provides for the ideal setting for plants, animals and humans to coexist. Populations once located in concentrated town centers have now become dispersed. Fragmentation and loss of natural and riparian landscapes are of concern.  As development pressure continues so does the threat to existing habitats and the landscape’s ability to produce resources in a sustainable manner.

CNHRPC has been actively involved in the preservation and protection of sensitive resources and naturalistic beauty found within the region through a variety of programs and services that we offer:

  • Regulatory reviews to ensure compliance with local, State and Federal environmental regulations;

  • Workshops dealing with sustainable communities;

  • Grant writing for the local water protection grants;

  • Bylaw development for towns;

  • Technical assistance provided through GIS mapping;

  • Free membership to our Program for Alternative Transportation and Health
